As if Google wasn't already AMAAAAZING. As if they didn't already care about developing sustainable technology. This Googleplex plans to release a new way for people to monitor their home energy usage via the web. It's called the Power Meter.

The idea is that once we as citizens are aware and can tangibly view our energy usage we will self regulate our consumption- this is growing trend in business and social models-  when dealing with large numbers of people or consumers that need to be regulated it is more efficient to let the people do some of the work. The traditional model has been to regulate it from the top meaning controllers, analysts, engineers, ceos, businessmen, managers and governments making large scale decisions that are often times too rigid and not effective for all cases of all people. Customers, citizens, and employees are unhappy and frustrated as a result.  

So far it seems that only Google employees have been able to test the monitoring software but as you can see they are having dramatic changes in their energy consumption.

Au Revoir, Yellow Pages

Yuh know those big books with all the advertisements and useful phone numbers that delivered to your house every year known as the "Yellow Pages" and the "White Pages." Well, there now this invention called "The Internet" and it does what you do only much better. 

The website Yellow Pages Goes Green is dedicated to getting people and businesses to Opt Out of receiving the books. The website is very informative with facts as to why we should do this. It is clearly the correct choice for the environment.
